OOIDA names director of security

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association announces the addition of Doug Morris as the Association’s director of security operations.

Morris will work in the Association’s Washington, DC, office as a key team member in the development of OOIDA’s new TRACER program (Transportation Alert Communications & Emergency Response) and its transportation security program.

He will act as a liaison to the Transportation Security Administration to redirect information on highway and homeland security and other safety issues to OOIDA members. TRACER is a system that will notify participating members with up-to-the-minute alerts via text message and e-mail. The system is slated to go live in the first quarter of 2009.

Morris brings an ideal combination of expertise in law enforcement and highway safety, having most recently served as a commander of several unique units within the Maryland State Police – including the transportation security section. He was with the State Police for more than 25 years. LL
