Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show marks 13 years

By Land Line staff

More than 107 trucks crossed the “Big Mac” during the 13th annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show in St. Ignace, MI, in September.

The five-mile Mackinac Bridge – aka Big Mac – glowed with thousands of chicken lights as the trucks participated in the “Bill Hudgins and Wilda Dodson Parade of Lights” on the second night of the three-day event sponsored by the National Association of Show Trucks.

Among the top winners at the show were OOIDA members Bob and Shelly Brinker of Grayling, MI, who took home Best of Show – Working Bobtail with their 2000 Freightliner Classic XL, “Legend of the Black Pearl.”

Best of Show – Working Combo went to Jeremy Hassevoort with Rabbit River Transport out of Holland, MI, and a 1986 Peterbilt 395 with a reefer. Hassevoort also took Truck-Lite Trophy series honors, qualifying to compete for the big award at the Mid-America Trucking Show in 2009.

Best of Show – Non-Working Bobtail went to a 1996 Kenworth, owned by Roddy’s Truck Service and driven by Warren Nyland from Martin, MI. LL
