I have been a member now for only a couple of years, and at first I thought that joining would just be something to do to be more professional, and that I would probably never need any of your services, except maybe insurance.
Three weeks ago, I was served with a lawsuit seeking damages for an accident that occurred while I was leased to Burlington Motor Carriers. Without going into details, I lost the LR wheels from the trailer at 70 mph on the Oklahoma Turnpike. I was not cited or charged with anything, and it was written off as “mechanical failure.”
I turned the matter over to Burlington and didn’t think much about it until I received the summons. Of course, by this time, Burlington was long out of business, and I thought I was going to be all alone in trying to fight this thing.
I called OOIDA and talked to Gary Green. He acted as if he had nothing else to do but help me. He found the relevant parties for me, referred me to an attorney, tracked down Burlington’s insurance carrier and even left instructions with the receptionist to have my calls put through immediately rather than have to wait for a call back.
I consider all this to be above and beyond the call of duty. He has made an incredibly stressful event much easier for me. He was always available for me to talk to, always made me feel better and was constantly giving me pep talks to keep my spirits up.
If this is the kind of help that membership entitles you to, you can count on me to be a member for a long, long time.
